Our Story
Wiz Tutoring began with a simple idea: quality academic support should be accessible and affordable to families in our community.
Our Journey Began in Warren
Wiz Tutoring started its journey in 2015 in Warren, Michigan, with a commitment to helping students strengthen their academic skills and become more confident learners.
Since the beginning, Wiz Tutoring has provided academic support for students in grades 2 through 12. Students come to us for help with math, reading and writing, schoolwork, and preparation for important academic and standardized tests.
Our test-preparation programs include SAT, ACT, PSAT and preparation for selective academic program entrance tests. As students’ needs have changed over the years, Wiz Tutoring has continued to expand the ways in which students can receive academic support.
Why Wiz Tutoring Was Created
Wiz Tutoring was established with the idea of making quality tutoring more affordable for students and families. From the beginning, affordability has been an important part of our philosophy.
We believe students should have access to meaningful academic support without tutoring becoming an unreasonable financial burden on their families.

A Learning Environment Built for Students
We want students to feel that tutoring is a place where they can ask questions, make mistakes, practice difficult skills and gradually improve.
Our tutoring environment combines digital learning tools with traditional paper-based materials. This allows tutors to choose different resources depending on what a student is learning and how that student learns best.
Student participation is also an important part of our approach. Rather than simply giving students answers, tutors encourage them to think through problems, explain their reasoning, ask questions and participate actively in the learning process.
More Than Homework Help
Students often first come to tutoring because they are struggling with a class, an assignment or an upcoming test. But solving today’s homework problem is only part of what tutoring can accomplish.
A student may be struggling because an earlier skill was never completely understood. When possible, our goal is to identify those learning gaps and help students strengthen the underlying skills they need for future success.
Over time, we want students to rely less on someone giving them an answer and become increasingly capable of approaching academic challenges independently.
The Beginning of Wiz Tutoring
Wiz Tutoring is the brainchild of Omar Sunny Khan, an experienced math tutor in Warren, Michigan. A graduate of Wayne State University, he has spent many years tutoring school and college students in Warren and surrounding communities.
His experience working directly with students helped shape the philosophy behind Wiz Tutoring: students need patient explanations, opportunities to practice, encouragement, and academic support that recognizes their individual needs.
Supporting students who are struggling academically has remained an important part of that philosophy. Wiz Tutoring was built with the goal of creating a tutoring center where families can find quality academic help while keeping tutoring affordable.
